During the 1950's American movies, television and rock 'n' roll brought many new ideas to fashion in Australia. This influenced many young people to copy the fashion of their favourite stars. Some examples were jeans, leather boots and a white t-shirt which was shown in the movie called Wild One. This became a symbol of teenage rebellion for boys everywhere.
However, not every teenage boy fancied this look, another popular look was a British Teddy Boy style of dress. This included high-waisted, narrow trousers, long jackets, slim ties and large shiny pointed shoes which were known as winklepickers.
Elvis Presley, the singer had his own style with the teen market. Youth nearly everywhere began sporting his slicked back 'duck tail' hair style and long side burns. In the 1950's young men started to wear brighter colours and sharp, flashy suits.
